If you are at the point in your life that you are required to take a withdrawal from your IRA retirement accounts, and are in the fortunate position of not needing some of that required distribution to cover your yearly living expenses, you can transfer cash or a security directly from your retirement account to us via a Qualified Charitable Donation. There are two benefits to this option: You first meet part or all of your RMD requirement, but since it is a charitable donation, you possibly avoid paying some taxes on this income*.
A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows you to donate up to $100,000 per year from an IRA directly to charity—and use some or all of those funds to satisfy your IRA RMDs for the year. For example, if your RMD for the year is $100,000 but you need only $50,000 of that, you could donate the remaining $50,000 via a QCD to satisfy the rest of your RMD. A QCD can be a great tool for philanthropy as well as managing taxable income in retirement. Be aware that QCDs are not permitted from some types of retirement plans*.

We are keenly appreciative of legacy bequests. Alpine Heritage Preservation, Inc. has already been the beneficiary of past supporters who have named AHP in their wills. Our goals are long-term, and we are well aware this institution will outlive all of our current Board Members. Our mission is to support the building and the performing arts now and into the future. We are sure that our Board successors will very much appreciate legacy donations that are made now.
If you decide this is something you would like to do, please contact us and let’s talk about your wishes. You may then give the appropriate information to your attorney, who can include a bequest to AHP in your last will and testament.
-
You may designate Alpine Heritage Preservation, Inc. as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy held by you. While there may be no immediate charitable contribution benefit to you during your lifetime, you can be assured of a direct contribution to our most worthy cause with very little effort. Simply contact your agent and ask to make AHP a direct beneficiary. We will be glad to provide you or your insurance agent with any required information.
